Bespoke
All sessions are bespoke. No two sessions are ever the same. Each session is designed to meet your child’s individual targets set in collaboration with you and where appropriate with the school. Targets are essential to review and monitor your child’s progress.
Timings
Sessions last 45 minutes and include direct therapy with your child and parent feedback. Session costs include arranging the session, research, planning and preparation for each session (purchasing, making and printing materials), set up, tidy up and clean up, and writing up clinical notes afterwards.
Location
Therapy can be in the clinic, at school, at home or online. We do one to one sessions or small groups sessions. Travel charges apply for school and home visits, although travel can be shared if we are seeing more than one child at a given school on the same day. Home visits are for a minimum of one and a half hours. Please do ask about holiday club options for your child at the clinic.
Online
Online sessions can be:
zoom therapy sessions (with or without the child)
parent sensory coaching (6-to-8-week block)
child tailored motor skills package (6-to-8-week block)
parent or schools staff support and advice in general (2 to 3 a term)
child specific OT coaching for parents or school staff (2 to 3 a term)
These can be complementary to school, clinic or home visits. Please do talk to us about creating an intervention plan that suits you.
Quantity
Sessions are booked in minimum block of 6 to allow for getting to know each child and their family and finding out how to tailor therapy to suit each child’s unique profile and personality. It is standard to expect a child to attend 8 to 12 weeks of therapy before we do a review session. However, a review (formal or informal) can be arranged at any appropriate time during a therapy plan. Ayres Sensory Integration (ASI) (hyperlink to description about this) therapy is booked as a block of 30 sessions, then a break. Each child develops at their own, individual pace. We will be guided by them and work at a pace that is just right for them.
Approach
We use several different treatment approaches selected to meet your child’s needs in the moment. There is no one way suits all. As a practice we will always aim to share and work with you as much as possible so that you and your child are here for as little time as you need to be. We believe therapy is always more effective if we work as a team, across different environments. Please see more about some of the approaches we use here.
